2D Echo
2D Echo, or two-dimensional echocardiography, is a non-invasive imaging test that uses ultrasound waves to create real-time pictures of your heart.
It's a common and safe procedure used to evaluate the structure and function of your heart.
How it's done
- You lie down on an examination table, and a technician applies a special gel to your chest.
- A small device called a transducer is moved around on your chest. This transducer sends out ultrasound waves that bounce off your heart and create images.
- The images are displayed on a monitor, allowing your doctor to see how your heart is pumping blood, the size and shape of your heart chambers, and the condition of your heart valves.
